Impressions from Life in Kashmir!

Kashmir, the bride of the word of nature,situated midst Himalayas to the north of India , is a tourist resort and a magnificent place to live . Its natural settings are gorgeously beautiful and variously attractive to all kinds of people, theists and atheists, local and foreigners , Muslims and non Muslims, well read and hardly literate. Though all seasons and seasonal changes in all kinds of weather, numerous things are offered by this paradise like abode to enrich the life of those who love to live here permanently or casually. She has been very hospital for all kinds of people who have liked to visit her for many many years in spite of her own problems of politics and economy.

Kashmir offers delicious food and meat preparations to her people and guests in all kinds of natural climate. The vegetable varieties together with their singular preparations and taste are as much liked as are fruits in all seasons with their colors and mellowness. Dry fruits are an additional attraction that adds to the beauty of the place. If anything else remains to be mentioned for singularity is saffron and mushrooms both of which are naturally produced and are known for quality and value.Milk and curds and butter and ghee produced have a taste perhaps not be experienced anywhere else. Handicrafts of kashmir are a weakness for the lovers of art and some of these like Pashmina and Shahtoosh are rare but internationally acclaimed.

Kashmir is known for hospitality worldwide notwithstanding the political instability she has been a victim of in various periods of time.This is due to the simplicity of life on which the influence of saints and seers and mystics and religious minded people has been great.The record that it has for brotherhood and harmonious social life left has all along history been recognized and praised. Even now Kashmir’s head is held high in a worldwide scenario soaked with human blood!

Morning Prayer !

Morning prayers are the most effective ones, may be due to freshness of mind after sleep or silence all around in absence of activities of the ordinary business of life. This is more so in areas where establishments are not dense as in cities, especially those which are busy due to modern life caused by industrial progress. The best in that sense are the places where nature is abundant and the natural surroundings are more tantalizing to peace and spirituality. Prayers may be individual or collective but morning prayers in most cases are solitary and individualistic. One needs to have more concentration than is possible with crowds or huge gatherings, though such gatherings have their own advantages for purpose and effectiveness. Moreover, prayers in the morning can be ritualistic or non conventional in nature but it has been visualized that ritualistic prayers are not so effective as non conventional ones. One wants to build a liaison with divinity which like meditation is possible only when the prayer is not a mere ritual, is soulic in its character. In scriptures such prayers stand mentioned but all depends upon the quality of the person who offers prayers and for which ideal purpose. The prayer in the morning of the free man who worships not nature but the maker and the designer of it is marvelous and worth mentioning. He likes the dawn and the light of the sun that brightens slowly and steadily till all the birds begin their chirp and with that their orchestra. This is the time when the dew and the bud begin their mutual relationship flower into bloom! This is the time when the worshipper comes out to listen to the murmur of the brook that flows haply nearby while the face receives pleasant touches of the morning breeze. I want to participate in this type of prayer feeling one with the cosmic truth!

Moral degradation !

Moral degradation means what and for whom? For the people who have forgotten God and His people? For trillions of common people whose masters in government and out of it have demoralized them by heinous crimes and shabbiest deeds?For businessmen who send in the market duplicate products or adulterated food ? For big business wo fund parliament elections for brown sugar and war and also for anything destructive even for their own countrymen? Morality for those people who rape and use knives to snatch whatever they can from passers by on the road? Is it for mafia and Gundas who assist in spreading terror and violence so that their employers are free to bag people's lot and fleece them for exploitation in whatever way!

Yes common people too are immoral, even to their parents and relatives, friends and folk. They lie, are dishonest, waylay and deceive, are selfish and harmful, flatter and envy,or steal way ordinary things just for their fun and habit! We live in the age of immorality.

Morals are produced by the system that forms the foundation of a society! Capitalism or fake religion, or diseased democracy or military dictatorship are all producers of moral evil. Their henchmen also cause it. Morals are class morals and caste morals or whatever divisions in the society cause them.Down with such morals!

We live in a moral crisis. Hope some day the world be better for a smooth social life. As long as rat race for power and money is on, the crisis will continue in spite of sermons and laws, severe or mild! Withal that people who are born good,have a good grooming, eat what they earn with their own hands,have broader vision of life try be moral whatever happens to them. Some who remain very close to them and have a good inkling imitate them and try to be smooth in their living. But single swallows do not make a summer!

Discipline me, punctuality!

Punctuality is how your disciplined mind works for a serious living. Irregularity and carelessness gnaw at it! If you are proved successful in life , it is also due to your punctuality in whatever you do or think! Great people are punctual , are therefore respected as well as imitated! God loves it as it makes Godly too! First let us give examples. Early morning you get up at 5 and at once throw your blanket aside to go to the wash room . Then after vitals you brush your teeth and take a bath. Leaving the room you offer prayers in whatever way and then may be you recite the Quran or sing encomiums or hymns. You also do some exercises in your compound for say 20 minutes. Around 6 you do your breakfast and soon after you begin doing some reading writing exercise.

If you are a school going fellow, you leave for school at a fixed time so that you are not late for school. If working you leave in time to reach your office or business center or field or workshop or whatever in time . Noone says you are not responsible for work or are not punctual. You finish your work in time and never shirk work , thus committing irregularity! For any gathering or meeting or collective responsibility you are in time fixed . You do not like to disturb the schedule drafted for many people besides you by your lethargy leading to irregularity. No one says you are not dutiful and conscientious! Enough examples.

Punctuality is needed by feeding mothers as also by the highest executive. It concerns housewives as it does doctors and engineers. Carpenters must be punctual as also leaders who come at a fixed hour to deliver speeches. Sweepers, plumbers, electricians, builders, architects, painters, poets and musicians , shopkeepers and industrialists must be punctual. Religious leaders must be so punctual as God Himself to make followers disciplined and dutiful!

Bliss, thou art Religion!

The inner universe united with the outer defines God, the Almighty, that among other disciplines discovered by man is sought by religion , so important for the ardent seeker! The fire of passion keeps the flame of knowing burning and the know-er does not superciliously boast of having found the truth that the Almighty is! Humility and search must go hand and hand together therefore or else brawls of one kind or the other without reaching the sanctuary of Godhood take place causing as in duels death or in wars of today megadeath! Man still has to go a long way before he learns live the tranquility of self hood! Look at how life at various stages of development sings the lore of love unitedly every moment one way or the other. The whiff of zephyr tantalizes the blossom moistened by the warmth of dew’s drink and the flower begins to open diffusing fragrance into the atmosphere . Swarms of bees and black bumbles besides butterflies darting and dashing beautify the spectacle on one hand and on the other God’s orchestrated nature plays the game of pollination also in wind and water. The nightingale and the oriole, inflamed by passion, play their own orchestra of love and life without knowing haply that the color and the from of the flowered beds bring in tremendous changes in their tiny beings while they see and sing! And humans budding with youthful energy get mesmerized and drunken to do many things of art and artful designing and read practically WA KHALAK NAKUM AZWAJAN of the Holy Quran! The game of pairs that the Quran suggests is not a human affair only: it makes whole life meaningfully creative and submits before the best creator WHO brings us up from the nothingness of dust and clay in water and warmth!The human machine is fit to play the game of love that is an intimate part of worshiping God’s Creativity !

Religion in Modern world !

Kashmir University was engaged recently , it is heard , in a seminar on Revisiting Classics in post modern secular World! Distinctly some political Braham declared in the words of some western man that god is dog and that reason and science were the routes to solving all the problems mankind is facing today.Even if one would believe he was talking about god and not God, this utterance is situationally poisonous and humanly humbug ! First secularism means state’s non interference in matters of religion and as a consequence recognition of all faiths people can hold without any fascist activity funded and supported by the state. How then in Kashmir, where from Shah Hamadan RA and Lal Ded down to Ahad Zargar and Laleh Aregame people have lived creatively as religiously illuminated ones by and large and have left behind treasures of universal tolerance and love, can this provocation fit in at a time when Petrol Bombs are used now to frighten out the secular tradition of this land besides other disturbances that have sucked peace and prosperity of this unfortunate abode ! I hope it is not linked with any political activity, in Bihar or elsewhere to play the drama of fascism! Is science classics and if not how does the reference to science relate itself to the seminar? Even if we assume that it does, is the science based on laboratory a JUDGMENT on religion which involves methods from sensory perceptual understanding to empiricism to authority to rationalism to imagination and intuition to form a perspective in which life is to be seen and appreciated? Are we to refute and declare great sources of human culture obsolete by this arrogant declaration, sources that revere Aeschylus, Homer, Kalidasa, Dante, Goethe, Firdousi, Nizami, Attar, Rumi, Ibn i Arabi, Avicina, Dostoevsky, Leo Tolstoy , Tagore and Iqbal with numerous others listing whom is laborious. West and East abounds to exalt religion as it still applies anodyne on wounds inflicted by modern science and technology which, again, to me are not classics! We do not deny the movement of the clouds and the winds and the lighting and the thunder as natural phenomenon but we are wonderstruck to see the bond between the clouds and the rain and the growth of vegetation that makes the earth abound in greenness , the elixir to the jaundiced eye. We do agree that the earth is potential to sustain life but we do certainly see REHMAN functioning all around, a comprehensive term that does not only try the Lame Satans of political jugglery and devastation but shows how the breastfeeding mother is related with the growth of the child in emotion and intellect also and how feeling so nurtured obliterates the havoc created by the machine and mechanical civilization of modern or postmodern world. Hands off the frogs in the well and observe the dance of the starry sky and the fragrant whiffs of zephyr making that dance all the more carousing and illuminating to the wakeful humanity! We do not participate in Bihar elections, not in any TAMASHA near Banaras threatening millions to be burnt alive if they do not vote for FASCISM! We are peace lovers and lovers of mankind in spite of the efforts that are made to turn us into mafia!

Murky Weather!

How louring is the weather! Where are we? Is it the mist of progress? Or the leaden of our deeds? Our youth are using "whats app" and our politicians are dancing round democracy singing compositions on the most carefully designed instruments of "jobs for everyone" and "poverty gone" ! Education is ornamented in erudition and fluency of the English Medium and the much prepared celebrations of festivals of history are staged with rows and rows of VIPs from the governing and the business class. Expensive cars are on the roads and still expensive ones are longed for. Teerath Yatra and Pilgrimage to Makka are the talk of the day and the loudspeakers are on! Why mist around?

I don't read well in the pages of history what is true and what is untrue? The nuclear power light is on, though, and the library full of books and computers! The seating arrangement is terrific! The University Professor of History draws huge salary and has a well furnished room! But he has huge glasses and perhaps sees not well. The weather is bad for him too? His historical room is designed by engineers of repute! But Darwinian and Freudian knowledge too is unclear though it is not Marxism! Down with sluggish weather!

Lot of debate is on in the church and the mosque and now in the temple where sages used to hallow Somnath worshipers! Why cannot we see clearly what they are debating for? Do they debate for God and want weapons of mass devaluation if not destruction to please Him and to win in His name who lately they say has been hijacked by the money power? The lumbering weather has reduced the capacity of being transparent to see what actually has happened to Godhood in the era of commercial civilization! When will the haze go and what devices are needed so that masses involved in foggy weather would do something on their own.

Woman for culture

Women have had a far ranging impact on all the aspects of culture. Be it in any field from art to science to literature to peace to justice, her story has been inspiring. Many cultures have neglected woman or rarely taken her contributions into account, but that has never stopped her from proving her worth, and making a mark. Strong and independent woman is the need of the world, who is far from the feelings of self-doubt, not afraid of any challenges which the world throws at her, who has utmost courage to face the world boldly and reach the zenith. A strong woman recognizes the blessings. she has of decisiveness, strength, emotional connection, sensitivity, reasoning, intelligence, judgment etc and uses all of them for the service of humanity and development of human race. God has made her such that she bears pain and takes part in the act of creation. She is the cradle of divinity. A woman should be given a free will in each culture, and her man should act as a wall to give her strength, trust her courage, and capabilities and treat her at par with himself. Then a woman contributes significantly to the culture she belongs and to the humanity at large. Whenever a woman gets a chance, she touches new heights. From being the CEO of a multi national company to a HOMEMAKER, she proves she is capable of doing anything and everything in the best possible way it could be done. Cultures only progress when women make equal contributions to them. They are the real engineer of the society. When women are given freedom and equal opportunities we get the likes of Rabia Basri, Jahan Ara, Mira Bai in spirituality, Sarojni Naidu, Charlotte Mew in poetry, Marie Curie, Kalpana Chawla in science, Benazir Bhutto, Margaret Thatcher in politics, and even for maintaining world peace women have made huge contributions with Tawakul Karman. But if a woman is suppressed by the culture she belongs to, the culture then goes into the deep gorge of ignorance and Dark age.

Debasing Corruption!

Corruption is a monstrous evil worldwide but in poorer country its grip over the public is more horrible than in the richer ones. Even in the west it has spread particularly at the higher political level for various reasons. Wearing numerous faces It has throttled humankind and weakened character .Progress is either checked or at least slowed down considerably progressively. Human values have been severely damaged and the possibilities of honorable and sophisticated life and living have been reduced to dust.Commercial culture has contributed to it mainly and machine has widened its scope. Insecurities and dishonest deal ,gaps between classes and castes and loose morals due to feeble religion have also been responsible for the social and moral menace. Corruption in business, in political affairs, in governmental organizations and institutions, in educational institutions and administration, in health and medical profession,in social and religious institutions and in family affairs are some of the obvious black faces of the big crime! There is hardly any check to curb it; very strangely some of the people even in internal and external security circles give justifications of its continuance in the name of national interest, following Chanakya and Machiavelli. The main purpose of corruption at various levels in various forms is heinous as it wants to debase man so that he is reduced to weakness in all respects and manners and is used for any thing nefarious anytime anywhere. A strong man can never do anything that goes against human interest,human values,general welfare , health and education, or spirit of man in particular. He cannot indulge in anti social activity or immoral behavior or crime . His hands can never be polluted by corruption whatever kind. It is only the fallen man who is weak to be used as a factotum!

VERMICOMPOST,A PROCESS OF MAKING WEALTH FROM WASTE.

Vermicomposting is a biological process of converting solid wastes of animals and plants into rich manure through the action of earth -worms. It is a mixture of worm casting (faecal exertions ), organic material including humus, live earth worms their cocoons and other organisms. IMPORTANCE / ADVANTAGES: 1. Huge quantities of domestic, farm and household can be converted into valuable compost which otherwise goes un -utilized. 2. Vermicompost Can be produced near to the site of use.3. Vermicompost is rich in nutrients and growth hormones thereby it enhances productivity and improves soil health.4. Due to its granular form it can be used easily at any stage of the crop. METHODS OF VERMICOMPOSTING : The main components for Vermicomposting are listed below :- 1. Dung 2. Organic waste (farm waste, garbage, vegetable waste, leaves etc.) 3. Earth worms or vermi-culture. Select a site which is not in use, shady and slightly raised places were there is no water stagnation . Construct a concrete pit of 30ft length, 8ft breath , 3ft height. The unit should be covered with a raised roof. Roof can be erected on local material covered with tin sheets /abestos sheets / local thaching material. Divide the unit in 12 rows of 2.5 ft each , alternate rows could be filled by compost material. It is not necessary to erect walls to divide compost unit in rows. 1st layer:- a 3 inch layer of broken bricks or pebbles are laid at the bottom. 2nd layer:- a 3 inch thick layer of coarse sand is laid over the first layer of broken bricks. 3rd layer :- over the sand layer a 3 inch thick layer of loamy soil is spread. Over this layer spread a layer of decomposable material like paddy straw, dry leaves. Sprinkle sufficient water to make it moist. 4th layer:- introduce the earth worms about 1-2kg's of vermi-culture containing 500 -1000 earth worms. This culture will also contain cocoons and eggs. 5th layer :- the worms are then covered with cow Dung.keap the cow Dung moist. 6 th layer:- on the cow Dung spread keeps of 5 -10 cm's thick layer of dry leaves , kitchen waste etc . To these pits regularly sprinkle water for 20- 25 days. 7th layer:- on 26 day onwards spread 5-10cm's layer of waste and cow Dung twice a week till the pit is filled and sprinkle water daily(give one turning a week ,if required keep wet gunny bags over the heaps .) 8th :- after 40-45 days when vermicompost is ready stop sprinkling of water for 2-3 days. 9th:- take out compost form the pit and keep it in heaps till it is slightly dry. Sieve it through 2mm sieve. The compost so prepared must have 20-25% moisture. Always dry in shade. 10th :- the sieved compost is filledn in the bags as per requirement. PRECAUTION 1. After properly filling ,the pit should be covered with jute bags which should kept wet so that remains moist 2. Protect the verm-compst pits from sun,rain frogs and poultry birds. 3.fill the beds lightly to maintain aeration 4. Protect beds form frost and chilly winds. 5. Do not cover verm-compst heaps or pit with plastic sheet as if may trap heat and gases. 6. Avoid try and water logging conditions. Dry conditions kill worms and water logging condition drive them away 7. Here's Dung due to risk of tetanus virus, lethal for human beings is not advisable to be used as feeding material for earth worms. A space of about 30ft can provide about one quintal of vermin-compest METHOD OF APPLICATION Vermicompost Can be applied in any crop at any stage. It is more beneficial if it is mixed in the soil after broadcasting. Vermicompost Can be used for growing cash crops like vegetables, fruit plants, ornamental plants, etc. REARING OF EARTH WORMS :- Earth worms can be bread in farms and court yards to provide organic manure. Select a place away from direct heat , strong sunlight and incessant rains. A pit 2' ×2' & 1ft deep can be used to rear earth worms. The pit should be lined with PVC Sheet to prevent escape of earth worms. Earthen pots, brick cement tank or wooden bowl can also be used.The pit is filled with four layers of bottom layer should be filled with 2 inches rice husk,2nd with saw dust,chopped rice or wheat. The 3rd layer 6-8 '' with cow Dung,great foliage,vegetable remains,discarded parts of fruits,scares of card board etc.relase about 100 earth worms at top. After earth worms start penetrating towards bottom and when they disappear, cover surface with jute bags and keep them wet. Sprinkle water over jute bags judiciously to keep them wet. After 4-5 weeks production of heat in the pit will cease and manure is ready. Then manure may be taken out from the pit and placed on polythene sheet by making pyramid like heap. This will induce the earth worms to remain at bottom and can be separated carefully. From one pit 50kg's of manure can be produced and earthworms produced can be used for producing more vermicompost.

Caste a social menace !

Division of mankind based on caste as a pretext or a mechanism for exploitation is as harmful as race whatever justifications for its birth or conservation are given here or anywhere else in the world. Life is not a privilege, it is only an opportunity and those who make the best use of that opportunity are the best kind of people. Prophet Muhammad (peace is on him and his progeny) as the messenger of God categorically emphasized that mankind is one and indivisible and the one who proves to be a man in the real sense is by his deed not by birth or any other circumstance. Again and again he emphasized mankind is one, must therefore hold together as a single entity given the differences of language or region or whatever. Unfortunately his followers known as Muslims all over the world have directly or indirectly fallen in the abyss of caste they are using to uphold privilege or to jostle out the weak for being in inferior of subordinate position to gain economic benefit or social status.

The situation is even worse for Hindus who are floating in the ocean of caste.It has multiplied so much that even politics , religion and economy is hooked with it as a labyrinth. The crafty Brahmans and the moneyed class who were money lenders in feudal system are using it as sacred law for the maintenance of economic and other benefit! Even the greatest leader of Hindus in modern history , Gandhi, could not eradicate the system’s roots despite his constant endeavor in the freedom struggle. Over the years despite constitutional provision of social cohesion and uplift, the caste is still there yawning to devour the very freedom of man.. Hence the menace is a big challenge that needs the attention of the emancipated!

Love 's beat !

Persian excellence in Persian poetry is all inclusive: its historicity and nature, its wisdom and wit, its tradition and experiment, its love and lore, its idiom and ethos are all there. Read from Shahnama to Iqbal, the poet of the East, or even modern poetry in modernized diction, you will find treasures upon treasures measuring the development of man in its subtle form. No doubt the soil of the country is not an ordinary one , but its people have poured their blood in art of which Persian poetry is a significant specimen.The lyres and he tambourine, the flute and the drum played by hands well cultured into the art of music add to the rhyme and rhythm Persian poetry is famous for. Listen to the flute, as Rumi says , the whole story of love and pain is there and also the marveling beauty of narration! Go into its depths , you will find myth and majesty blended together to give it a name known for its erudition and fluency! One must have an ear to listen to its sound and warbling musicality!

Persian poetry, spread far and wide, loaded with all kinds of values necessary for the most successful life on the earth, made its mark in each epoch.. Morality, social harmony, cohesion between various kinds of people , political ethics and spirituality were the main themes it bore in its well designed forms. Besides that art and artistic excellence received impetus by it and the Persian verse on lips of knowledgeable persons and singers added to its hedonistic value. Its beauty could easily be matched with Arabic and Sanskrit literature which were also in full swing. In the West especially Germans adopted Persian forms and people like Goethe and Herder felicitated Persian wisdom and art. Orientalists in England and France promoted western interest in Persian culture by translating Persian verse! Marshall Hodgson says if Islam loses everything, only Persian poetry has the strength to still keep it alive!

Learn to deliver Basic Life support and help to save a life

Indications and contraindications : 

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR ) should be performed immediately on any person who has become unconscious and is found to be pulse less anywhere . 

In time Chest compression can be life saving and can  help in the full recovery of  the patient before the patient is shifted to near by hospital.  
One can continue chest compression during transportation of the patient on a stable surface . 
The above video shows how to deliver chest compression in an unconscious patient or when patient has no pulse .EVERY SECOND counts  and to learn basic life support is very important for every one. 

When facilities are available :-

. Assessment of cardiac electrical activity via rapid “rhythm strip” recording can provide a more detailed analysis of the type of cardiac arrest, as well as indicate additional treatment options.

Loss of effective cardiac activity is generally due to the spontaneous initiation of a non perfusing arrhythmia, sometimes referred to as a malignant arrhythmia. The most common non perfusing arrhythmias include the following:

• Ventricular fibrillation (VF)
• Pulseless ventricular tachycardia (VT)
• Pulseless electrical activity (PEA)
• Asystole
• Pulse less bradycardia

CPR should be started before the rhythm is identified and should be continued while the defibrillator is being applied and charged. Additionally, CPR should be resumed immediately after a defibrillatory shock until a pulsatile state is established

School !

If ‘education’does not develop the God given potential of a child harmoniously, if he or she does not learn the skills that are fundamentally required to live as a human being, if the child does not in a free and fearless atmosphere learn to see unity between man, nature and society, if he or she does not learn to fly in the imaginative universe slowly and steadily after the wings are strong enough, if arrangements are not made for all these essentials adequately by what is called the state, the concept does nor deserve the praise by the intellectual that it claims! What seems practically evident in and out of school is that education is a farce at least in the collective sense as all the people living on the globe get very little attention of parents or people who claim they educate for even literacy .Therefore at the basic level mankind has to go a long way before genuine claims of educational provision are made. Till then we are far behind on the scale of progress! In our world in spite of its claims of progress and modernity ,education continues to be a controlled social organ! The state uses educational institutions as tools to realize policies. Even electronic media and religious pulpit is politically maneuvered ! Divisions like caste and class or race and minority grouping is directly and indirectly maintained by education and propaganda.Printed materials like books and newspapers are controlled not to disturb the basic political ideology . Mechanisms for this purpose are various, depending upon people’s consciousness and resistance to things that thwart real freedom. No doubt the canvas of education has greatly extended and we have more interactions today than ever before but real freedom in educational matters is still not realized completely or satisfactorily!

Thou art the nearest approach to God HIRA: the wide range of mountains, JIBAAL in thy own dialect, are smiling jubilantly round and round you and also the downs there where people live night and day the kind of life you are determined to change! Vast spread of land all around, where the whole life is in liaison with thee, conversing in wordless language which thou changeth into beautiful metaphor! My heart is throbbing listening and seeing the sun’s glorious splendour with its splashes of beams covering the hill and the dale and the moon’s soothing light beaming over the sleeping and the slumbering through its radiant magic! The stars twinkle over thy heights showering bliss that thou translateth into rhyme and rhythm of the Arabic fluency!The calm nights shroud not secrets of self before thee as thy eye is too keen not to see even through the hill and the rock. The empyrean opens up its breast to show thee unimaginable treasures of existence hidden into its bosom. The spread of the earth shrinks before thy dazzling gaze and thou revealeth that gaze to mankind for ultimate benefit!

Don't they not know thou art still active and actively spreading thy message of love and peace, "well pleased and well pleasing" in your own erudition! Don't they hear that the mountain ranges are melodiously vibrating the sounds of truth that unite the earth with the heavens and the heavens with the bounteously beatific Paradise. i am visualizing numerous nymph like celestial bodies dancing in paradisaical exuberance and ecstasy around the dwellers who you have blessed with thy tantalizing supremacy! Goblets with drinks pure and life-soothing in their hands and fragrance emitting as of musk make thy presence felt to thy men and women who live with thee and thine tutoring message! I am in trance to see thee standing so upright and so definitely sure about thyself.

Can We be HONEST !

Honesty, normally, is the highest virtue applied in the ordinary business of life. It is a social quality shown while we deal with others. Yes it may be applied even in one’s approach to God but there also man’s behavior in terms of his values and qualities is seen! Generally it is believed that honesty is disappearing with advancement in material progress . People believe man was more honest in the past when life was simple and religion was adopted and practiced more seriously than now. This belief may have a lot of weight but that does not mean man can be fastened to the pegs of past without being productive and creative in the material sense as well.

No doubt man’s standards have fallen and his dishonest behavior has considerably increased. The fall of standards has be seen in all fields of living: economic, political,social, cultural , educational and even spiritual. Even in family life dishonest relations and conduct have been noticed. The disease of dishonesty has so spread that parents and children have also been affected, more or less, badly. The breakdown of marriage and the mechanical relations between couples have damaged the harmony of family life disturbing the peace of even those who live together with couples.

Unfortunately much attention is not being paid by governments and non governmental organizations to fight the menace of dishonesty that generates horrible corrupt practices almost at all levels. Corruption is now established as a social menace and has spread other evils associated with it. Our economic systems have contributed mainly to generate this disorder and therefore political systems seeking gains from business have slept over the evilsome practice. At moral or religious level no effective measures seem to be coming forward for a curative sound effect. Hence dismay all around!

HIPOCRICY WAYLAYING !

A moral vice, a wound in religious character, a serious social drawback and a psychological disorder is hypocrisy, seen day in and day out in our behavior worldwide , more today when commercial culture and falsity of political domination have ruined us and our perception of humanity. We are in the abyss of darkness, impressing no one , nor even within the family, in spite of glitter which in no way proves us to be golden! Wide awake humanity, the hell is yawning to devour us!

Hypocrisy proves we have no values, no solid grounds to use as fulcrum of our performance at any stage of life. We are loosely maneuvering things and managing affairs but every moment we are failing as humans thus recessing into bestiality. Our institutions whatever and wherever are promoting hypocrisy , thereby dragging us towards our own fall. The whole drama of civility and modernity contributes falsehood and hollowness of human mind and character! Our greed is the most heinous crime that breads hypocrisy!

The most important reason for this disease is insecurity and inequality embedded in our economic and power system! The more we generate money and material, in one form or the other, the more hypocrisy spreads in our nerves and we like druggists become addicts. Billions of people are wriggling and therefore one way or the other adopting hypocrisy as a dominant trait of personality to survive. Mimicking high ups is a ladder on which hypocrisy tries to reach the upper stratum !

Hypocrisy imbalances all , more so those who wear more masks to pretend , deceive and gain whatever. The more we adopt it, the more our will goes weak and also our decision to be firmly ourselves.Unfortunately even at international level we have no leadership to remedy the disease!

Dr Iqbal 's Art !

Dr Sir Mohammad Iqbal, the bard of the East, strikes melodies upon melodies darting up and down like a butterfly, longing for dance around flowers of myriad hues and colors! His soul contains not in one language and one setting , so from Urdu to Persian to Arabic constructions going also into English excellence, he exposes his soulic turbulence to mankind thirsty for meaning and art! His words augmented by metaphor and allegory and his images terrifically sounding and resounding as Wordsworth’s songs in Reaper’s hill and Lucy’s “untrodden ways ” take us to the dreamland of musicality ! Read him seriously and be swayed by magical trance into the world of tantalizing beauty! 

Iqbal is rhyme and rhythm poured into passion and love and his characters dance in the paradise of unity like celestial beings wearing robes fitting their dancing role! Imagine Mansoor Hallaj mounting the scaffold arranged by brutal power and Nietzsche singing in praise of dreamy Superman to fit in the soul of the bard who searches him all around!Imagine the cloudy dance over the mountain accompanied by the tulip in the open wilderness and see how the bard’s soul seeks beauty in also candle and the moth or the firefly’s twinkle in night’s darkness ! Iqbal runs after Rumi and Goethe, and picks up whatever truth ,beauty and goodness is available worldwide to him to play his poetic role as of an Ambassador! His new temple in India is perhaps his dream as Cordoba in Spain to sing him the glory of love. Dashing restlessly like Gabriel's wing, his genius appears in The Message Of The East as also in Secrets of Self carousing among other orientals Nicholson and Arberry! He finds no place to rest like zephyr in poppy field or a lover in Paradise .

DAWN: An NGO for Better Tomorrow

It was the most uncertain of times! One could not tell good from bad, wisdom from foolishness, friend from foe, belief from incredulity, hope from despair, Light from Darkness … “we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way”. It was 2003 and, for more than a decade, Kashmir was braving an intense conflict that touched, tested and tormented every aspect of human life: social, economic, political. It was in these uncertain times that a group of associates – realising that the social and economic aspects of life cannot await the political solution – came together, informally, to found the organisation that came to be known as DAWN: An NGO for Better Tomorrow. The mission was to sincerely try and do everything we could to help and improve as many lives as possible, undertake as many socioeconomic initiatives as possible and work, consistently, towards realising our cherished vision of a ‘better tomorrow’. The objective was to achieve our goals whilst being totally and completely apolitical. That is why the word “an NGO” was inserted in the title itself, even though it made it look ungainly long. Among the founders of the organisation, so far as I can gather, were:- 1. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Pir 2. Dr Zahoor Ahmad Baba 3. Dr Hafeezullah Dar 4. Mr Abdul Majeed Dar 5. Showket Saleem Bulla 6. Mr. Meharajuddin Sofi 7. Dr. Ibrahim Masoodi 8. Dr Fayaz Ahmed Sofi

10.Mr Ammar Kabli .
11.Mr Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat
12.Mr .Mohd Saleem Bhat
All the founding members did, possibly, everything within their means to get the organisation started. However, it is very pertinent to iterate here, that the one person who was pivotal in the whole endeavour was Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Pir, the founder Chancellor of the organisation. It was his social net-wok and resources that made it possible, first, to bring us all together and then to enable us to organise some really successful events executing some much needed socio-economic interventions. Since I left India in 2006 I have not been up-to-date with the organisational activities but hope and pray that ‘DAWN’ continues to be ‘an NGO for a better tomorrow’!
